Whether you're a local, interstate traveller or visiting from abroad, you will enjoy an Australia Day celebration in the Wimmera. Head to Sawyer Park Horsham, celebrations will be held on the banks of the Wimmera River, Thursday 26th January 2017.

The Horsham Rural City Council, with the support from the combined Service Clubs of Horsham, will provide a free barbecue breakfast which includes bacon, eggs, sausages, orange juice, fruit and yoghurt from 7.00am. The official ceremony will commence at 8.00am. The program includes entertainment, citizenship ceremony, an ambassador address and the presentation of the Australia Day awards.
Other Regional 2017 Australia Day Celebrations:
Brimpaen - Brimpaen Hall
A country breakfast from 8.00 am with the official ceremony commencing at 9.am. This event will feature a guest speaker and flag-raising ceremony.
Natimuk - In front of Council Office
From 10.30am entertainment from the Natimuk Brass Band commences. The event will feature an ambassador address, flag-raising ceremony and morning tea to follow.
Dadswells Bridge - Dadswells Bridge Hall
Commencing at 11.00 am is the flag raising ceremony followed by refreshments.
The 2016 Australia Day Awards Winners
Citizen of the Year
Horsham Rural City Council has awarded a joint Citizen of the Year award to Russell and Libby Peucker. For their volunteering work for the betterment of the Horsham South Community. Russell and Libby have given countless hours as volunteers involvement on many projects. From the Grampians Bushfires recovery programs to the campaign to fill Green Lake as a recreational reserve including the establishment of a new barbeque pavilion area and the rebuild of the Horsham Yacht Club. There are many other community projects that both Russell and Libby were and still are involved with. Russell and Libby are worthy recipient of the 2016 Horsham Rural City Council Citizen of the Year Award.
Young Citizen of the Year
Dalton Cross has been awarded the Horsham Rural City Council Young Citizen of the Year Award. Dalton is an enthusiastic person who shared an interest in helping others at a very young age. He has a passionate desire to help grow the Horsham Agricultural Show, in particular the Animal Nursery component and he has accepted to take on the role as President of the Horsham Agricultural Show during 2016. Dalton also volunteer for the Noradjuha / Quantong Football Club, Horsham Spring Garden Festival, Richard Morris Memorial concert. Dalton is a remarkable young leader with a great passion for his local community and is a worthy recipient of the 2016 Horsham Rural City Council Young Citizen of the Year Award.
Community Event of the Year
Rotary Club of Horsham East has been awarded the 2015 Community Event of the Year, for hosting the 2015 Tri State Games, for the planning, preparation and conduct of the most outstanding community event. The Tri-State Games attracted approximately 350 athletes, plus their support crew, personal carers, family members and friends.The games were strongly supported by many local volunteers from service clubs and members of the general community.
